Cordele- Preparing for terrorist attacks is now regular business for first responders, and the federal government is helping.

Crisp County is getting the largest chunk of money, $341,000, from grants recently announced for our area.

A new state-of-the-art Mobile Command Unit for the sheriff's department will be bought with $275,000. It will replace a 30-year old one used all over South Georgia in plane and helicopter crashes, drownings and hostage situations.

More than $66,000 will pay for new equipment for the bomb squad.
