City workers to keep current leave policy

May 23, 2005 Albany- There won't be any changes to personal leave time for Albany city workers, at least not now.

A controversial proposal has been tabled indefinitely. Interim City Manager Lem Edwards sent a memo today saying the city needs to be done before any changes should be made.

The city considered doing away with sick leave and vacation time and replacing it with 20 personal days a year that employees could use for whatever reason. They would lose time they didn't use.

Right now, city employees can save unused leave time for years and get paid out when they retire.
