Americus - Georgia Southwestern rewarding interim baseball coach Bryan McLain for the job he did this season by naming him the permanent Hurricanes head coach.
Under McLain, Georgia Southwestern won 13 of their last 15 games to finish third in the Southern States Athletic Conference this year.
The Hurricanes finished the season 29-23 and earned their first NAIA regional tournament bid in three years.
McLain says he has wanted to be a head coach since his playing days at South Georgia College and after eight seasons as an assistant coach at Georgia Southwestern he will finally realize his dream.
Bryan McLain said "It is just the situation that I have always dreamed about. Finally got the opportunity and now you just want to go and do a good job."
Bryan McLain and the rest of Georgia Southwestern State University iswaiting to hear in a couple of weeks if the Hurricanes will be moving to the Peach Belt Conference.
