Bainbridge- An elderly South Georgia woman died in a house fire.
91-year old Elizabeth Cardin Hammond lived on South West Street in Bainbridge. Her house caught fire overnight and she died of smoke inhalation. "She was always so kind, so kind and sweet to everybody. I guess that was just her way," says neighbor Lucille Taylor.
Hammond's 47-year-old grandson suffered second and third degree burns. Investigators don't know what caused the fire. Hammond and her grandson were the only people at home. Another grandson who lives there was away.
