Albany- Gowns were pressed and mortar boards were squarely in place as several groups of high school graduates prepared to enter the real world.

Several area high schools handed out diplomas to graduates at ceremonies Saturday at the James H. Gray Jr. Civic Center.

Among those were graduates from Albany High school. Many graduates were thankful to have completed their high school education.

"Finished it, the whole school years. I've been waiting on this a mighty long time," said Mantonia Johnson,Albany High graduate.

Three other Dougherty County schools handed out diploma's to graduates, including Dougherty, Westover and Monroe High Schools.
