Albany- The Westtown Wildcats conquered Dougherty County's can drive competition again this year.

Students collect cans all year long to earn the $300 and a pizza party from Keep Albany/Dougherty Beautiful.

This year, Westtown students collected 812 pounds of cans. First grader Dasha Lawrence collected more of those cans than any other student in the school.

"Everyone has a drink can and instead of just putting it in the trash where it's just going to go in our landfills it's going towards a good cause," said Juanita Reid, the parent facilitator at West Town.

The money from those cans is donated to Flint River Habitat to help build homes. Last year, West Town collected 1,400 pounds of cans.
