Thomasville- The Thomasville branch of the "Disabled American Veterans" is honoring a group of local students with a merit award.
They gave it to Thomas County Central High School's choir. The students received it for their performance at a Veteran's Day celebration. Student Hannah Barfield also was given her own merit award for a similar performance. She says she would do anything to honor war veterans. "They gave their lives for me and a lot of them are still injured and are suffering the consequences of fighting for my freedom, so it's the least I can do to give them my voice," says Barfield.
The veterans say that in a world filled with so much negativity, the choir group is proof that there is still a lot of good.
