Teen hurt in car crash

Albany--  A 17 year old Dougherty County girl, scheduled to graduate from high school this week, is seriously injured when her car is hit by a dump truck.

The wreck happened just before two Tuesday afternoon on Winifred Road in western Dougherty County. The teenage girl, Christine Katz, apparently pulled out in front of a dump truck headed south on Winifred Road. She suffered a broken leg and internal injuries.

Neighbors complain that drivers speed and run stop signs in this area all the time. Brinson Phillips said "Yes, I am very amazed it hasn't happened before. Because just about every time I go into town I see somebody run this stop sign, or the one up at Van Cise and Winifred here."

The truck driver, Ricky Eubanks of Lee County, was not injured.

Katz is scheduled to graduate from Westover High School this week. Police say the 17 year old girl will be charged with failure to yield.
