Albany- An Albany church gave thanks for it's survival despite tragedy eleven years ago. The Calvary Baptist Church celebrated its golden anniversary.

Members held a 50 year dinner in the fellowship. Members say the church is proud that it continues to grow despite some obstacles in its past.

"We've been through some ups and downs and of course the big thing was the flood of 94. We had about four or five feet of water in the church and in this area. We decided to go ahead and rebuild, we didn't have too much of a choice," said Jerry Clack, Chairman of the Deacons.

The church has added at least 70 new members in the last year. Sunday they honored five charter members, who still attend church at Calvary Baptist.
