Thomasville- A man who bolted from a courtroom while awaiting sentencing for statutory rape is back in custody.

Arthur Burget ran from a courtroom shortly before sentencing on Wednesday. He was caught at the Days Inn late that night. "He came through the parking lot. At that time, we approached him and apprehended him. He didn't give us any problems. He said that he was afraid of the sentence that he was going to get," says Thomas County Sheriff's Investigator, Pascal Autry.

Burget was convicted of having sex with a girl under the age of 16. He's not yet been sentenced. His girlfriend was with him when he was caught. She was charged with two misdemeanor counts of obstruction.
