Jefferson - The boys state track and field meet got underway Thursday in Jefferson.
Lee County's LaValle Parker won the AAAA triple jump title and Pelham's Darien Clayton is a double winner in the Class A field events.
Clayton won his second straight Class-A triple jump title and he also won the high jump title.
The Hornets may bring home the team title.
Jeremy Smith also won the Class-A discus giving the Hornets first place in the team standings with 30 points after the first day of competition.
In AAA, Monroe's Terrance Ransom finishes second in the triple jump for a second year in a row and Tornado teammate Ricardo Lockette places second in the state in the high jump.
Lockette has a chance to win state titles in the 200 and 400 meter runs and Ransom is a contender in the 300m hurdles.
Westover's David Marley finished second the AAA 1600 meter run.
Cairo's Brandon Robinson finishes second in the AAA discus and Brooks County's Ron Neloms wins the AA state discus title.
