Tifton- Three Tift County State Farm agents donated 100 stuffed bears to the Tift County Sheriff's Office.

Sheriff Gary Vowell says each deputy will keep a few bears in the trunk of their patrol car to take along on calls.

"As the sheriff said, he said he hopes they all ride in the trunk, well the means we've had no accidents if they all ride in the trunk," says State Farm agent Fred Horne.

"These little bears seem to have a calming effect on small children in tragic situations, and not only accidents but when we respond to violent crimes," says Vowell.

Vowell says the donation will help deputies who had been spending their own money to purchase stuffed animals.
