Albany- The base closure announcement could come any day and many south Georgians are anxiously waiting to see if the Marine Corps Logistics Base will be spared.
One business anxiously waiting is the Shell Gas Station located near the base's main gate. A big portion of its revenue comes from the more than 25-hundred people who work on base.
"As far as businesswise, we get a lot of business especially early in the morning and like right now five o'clock five thirty in the evening, we get a lot of good push. We're hoping they'll stay open," says store manager Russell Barstad.
Managers say if the base closes they won't shut down but it will hurt their business. The closure list must be made public by Monday but likely will be released later this week.
