Echols County - A South Georgia man is behind bars for growing marijuana and setting booby traps in his home.

Forty-two year old James Randall Chitty is charged with manufacturing marijuana, possession of a destructive device and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Echols County deputies spotted the drugs growing around his home off Highway 35 South in a helicopter search Monday afternoon. When they went to check it out, the found a string tied to a shotgun on the doors. The G.B.I. Bomb Disposal Unit was called in to dispose of the traps.

Deputies found 188 marijuana seedlings growing in and around Chitty's home.
