May 9, 2005

Albany-  Deerfield-Windsor's young guns shot one of their best rounds of the season but it wasn't enough to topple Stratford Academy at the GISA AAA state golf tournament at the Doublegate Country Club.

Stratford's Russell Henley shot a 67 and teammate Matthews Barnett shot a 70 to lead the Eagles to the state title with a team score of 291.

Deerfield-Windsor finished ten shots back in second place.

Freshman T.J. Mitchell led the Knights with a 72 and 8th grader Collin Ho shot a 74.

Freshman Ashton Pellicano shot a 75 and junior Will Kilpatrick posted an 80 for the Knights.

Mitchell and Ho were among nine players to earn all-state honors.

The others were Henley and Barnett and David Homlesof Stratford, FPD's Will Cooper and Taylor Floyd, Lee Knox of Augusta Prep and Zach Grant of George Walton Academy.
