School sets blood drive record

Valdosta - A South Georgia school sets a state record for blood donations.

Lowndes High School collected 395 units in its annual blood drive last Friday. That beats the previous school record of 370 units set by Colquitt County High School two months ago.

"We do this every year but in previous drives, our largest amount collected was 244 units so we exceeded that goal and are very proud," said Amy Carter, Organizer.

This year's drive at Lowndes High was one of the largest school blood collections in the southeastern United States.
