Albany- It was a day of good byes and new futures for both graduating seniors and the President at Albany State University.

The 86th commencement ceremonies were held for graduating seniors at Albany State University. In addition to seniors saying good bye, outgoing President Dr. Portia Shields delivered the commencement address, telling students a final farewell and to continue the pursuit of their dreams.

Dr. Shields is leaving ASU for a position on the University System's Board of Regents. Recent graduates say they're excited about putting their education to work in the real world.

"It's very exciting, because once I got here I was like man I can't wait until it's over but, now it's here and I have a job set up and I'm thankful that ASU can provide me the education and experience I need to get a job," said Berry Harmon Jr.

Harmon says, he's starting a new family tradition, being the first one to graduate from college. He's taken a job as a business manager for Walgreen's in Charlotte and plans on continuing his education at UNC Charlotte.
