Newton- A south Georgia police chief is suspended and under investigation by the GBI.

Newton Police Chief Walt Causey says investigators removed a computer and other evidence from his office Friday.

He says, the city council suspended him over a traffic stop nearly a month ago and plans to fire him. Causey admits he got into a tussle with a man he chased across the Mitchell County line.

The man claims Causey pulled his gun. The chief says that's not true.

We couldn't reach the mayor tonight and one council member would not comment.
