Albany State breaks new ground

Albany--Albany State University held a dual groundbreaking Friday, that will pave the way for more student housing, as well as an on-campus early childhood learning center.

The new dormitory, will be a four-story, 806-bed, apartment-style structure, featuring full kitchens and living rooms. The early childhood learning center will be open to the Albany community, and will give students "hands- on" teaching opportunities to observe, work or conduct research in early childhood behavior and development.

The student residence complex will also feature a cyber cafe and a convenience store. The cost of the new dorm will be approximately 33 million dollars.
