Albany-- Across the country, many Americans will pause to pray during the National Day of Prayer. Albany will host its 12th annual Day of Prayer observance, Friday at noon in front of the Government Center.

Citizens of all faiths are asked to take time to pray for the United States, its leaders, and the future. The National Day of Prayer was first established in 1775. President Reagan in 1988 established the first Thursday in May as its official day.

Albany's service will be led by members of the armed forces and veterans. "Those with a military background in the program, that can bring to it a part of the meaningfulness of our troops being in harms way. And the prayer that this nation has given in their support," said Jim Coleman.

Albany's National Day of Prayer will be begin at noon tomorrow in front of the Government Center.
