Valdosta-- Even as gas prices decrease, one school system is still feeling the financial pinch.

The Lowndes County School System is $61,000 over budget on fuel costs. As the budget year comes to an end, they predict they will be seventy five to eighty thousand over budget.

Just like other school systems, they have to find a way to pay for their fuel to operate buses and other vehicles. "Well, we've had to adjust our budget and shift some money from other areas into our fuel cost budget," said Superintendent Steve Smith.

Smith says he hopes to increase next year's fuel budget to reflect this year's shortfall.
