Albany - Family members were told he was shot in the chest, but police have not confirmed that, and they aren't even saying if there was forced entry in the home.

Barbara Medders reacts to the news after learning her husband, Jimmy, better known to family and friends as "Pop, is dead. Travis Sapp says, "I pulled up and everybody was running to the car and they told me that they found my father in the house dead."

Sapps says, "They ain't told us nothing, they ain't said nothing, they just telling us to sit out here and wait!"

Albany Police Lt. Tracy Barnes says, "Right now, we are investigating it, we are currently treating it as a homicide until we can determine any other reason and that's what we have right now."

But stepson Travis Sapp can't imagine why anyone would want to kill his father. He says, "He was a good man, they'll laugh and joke with them, he'll laugh and joke back with them. We don't know what's going on. We don't understand."

Wife, Barbara Medders and son, Travis Sapp are putting out a $1,000 reward for anybody has any information that leads to an arrest. Jimmy Medders' body has been sent to the crime lab in Moultrie for an autopsy.
