Man beaten with baseball bat during robbery

Dougherty County -- Investigators think the beating and robbery of an Albany newspaper deliveryman may be gang related.

The store surveillance video from the Pitt Stop Convenience Store about 1 O-clock Sunday morning showed 39-year-old Edward Swain  filling the paper box when two men attack him. One man has a baseball bat and hits Swain several times.

They take the money bag from his hand and run. Swain is able to get up and drive for help. He had to have four stitches to close a wound over his eye.

Investigators think the attackers were teens being initiated into a gang. Dougherty County Police Lt. Jimmy Sexton said "I believe they are teenagers, just based on his description. How they spoke with him, and his description of how old he thought they were."

The robbers got away with a small amount of money. If you have any information about this robbery, please call the Dougherty County Police.
