Diesel fuel spilled on streets

Albany -- A truck dumped almost 100 gallons of diesel fuel on a couple of busy South Albany streets Wednesday morning.

About 9 AM the driver of the Concrete Enterprises dump truck noticed diesel fuel pouring from his truck. Much of the fuel was spilled on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive and at the intersection of Oakridge Drive.

Road crews threw sand on the diesel fuel, which was contained on the road. EMA Deputy Director Jim Vaught said "It's on the road, and they immediately put sand on it. It did not go down through the culvert system, so we are containing it on the road."

A mechanical problem caused the diesel fuel to spill from the truck.

The company owner will pay the city for the spill clean up.
