Kidnap victim ok thanks to clerk

Thomasville- A kidnapping victim is safe thanks to a convenience store clerk.

The clerk at "Flash Foods" on Highway 319 saw a man beating a 15 year old girl in the store parking lot late Sunday night. The clerk then called police and went outside to confront the man. That's when he jumped into a car and sped away. Police credit the clerk with saving the girl. "The clerk intervened, took the initiative. She saw something she didn't think was right. She confronted the individual, and the most important thing is that the juvenile is ok," says Thomasville Police Captain Troy Rich.

Willie Carpenter, Junior was arrested at another gas station in Grady County. Police say he kidnapped the girl from a bus stop in Jacksonville, Florida, and that he began beating her when she tried to escape.
