Albany- The Sons and Daughters of Confederate Veterans remember their fallen heroes. A Confederate Memorial Service was held at Confederate Memorial Park in Lee County Saturday.

Family members were presented with metals for their loved ones services. Andy Carson accepted two honors, one for his father's service in Korea and another for his father in law. He says it's important to remember those who served the country.

"It's something we've been doing for many years, since the war ended when the united Daughters of the Confederate started what was known then as Decoration Day and now it's known as Confederate Memorial Day," said Carson.

Muskets fired a salute to all of those who were remembered Saturday.
