Douglas- Commissioner Paul Elliot was elected to represent ward 6, but soon after he took office he moved to another part of the city, violating the guidelines of the city charter.
Elliot said he wasn't able to find a suitable home for his family in his ward by the April 30th deadline, so he resigned. Now the commission will appoint someone to replace him.
"I'm sure they'll want to fill it as soon as possible, but they'll take their time and make sure they get a good person in there and the right person for the community," says city manager Jackie Wilson
The city manager says the commission will discuss plans to replace Elliot at their next meeting on Monday.
