Americus- In July 2001, Americus police responded to domestic disturbance call at a home on Brown Street.

The wife allowed them to search her home without a warrant and directed them to cocaine she said belonged to her husband, Scott Randolph, an Americus attorney.

Randolph objected to the search. He later appealed his drug conviction and won.

The State Supreme Court agreed that the search was unconstitutional, but the state is appealing. The U.S. Supreme Court likely will hear the case in October.
