Tifton - When Terrell Academy's Anna Faust had surgery to repair a torn knee ligament in January, she knew her high school basketball career was over.
What was in doubt was would Faust recover in time for the GISA state tennis tournament.
The Lady Eagle standout won the AA singles title last year and was cleared to play the week before the region tournament.
Faust won the region title last week qualifying for the state tournament.
Playing with a knee brace and not at full mobility, Faust gutted her way to a 6-3, 6-3 win over Westwood's Brooke Anglin in the Class A finals on Wednesday to win her second straight state singles title.
Terrell Academy made it sweep when the Lady Eagles Sam Barfield/Ashley McConnell beat teammates Pamela Lash and Kate Stewart in the doubles championship.
Westwood freshman Taylor High was the state runner-up in Class A and Deerfield-Windsor's duo of Jenny Kitchen and Taylor Hawke finish second in AAA girls doubles.
The Lady Knights won the state team title last year and will try to defend that crown at next week's team tournament in Augusta.
