Albany - A man who set a friend on fire will spend 10 years in prison. Superior Court Judge Willie Lockette sentenced Vincent Virga to 20 years, to serve ten behind bars.

Virga was convicted of aggravated battery for spraying a flammable mixture onto Patrick Carter while he was passed out in June 2001.

"It was a very appropriate and hefty sentence for a horrendous and monstrous crime," said Assistant District Attorney Christopher Cohilas.

Patrick Carter suffered third degree burns on 25% of his body and spent a month in the Augusta burn unit.
