Dougherty High standouts will remain teammates

April 12, 2005

Albany - Dougherty High basketball players Kenny Ware and Josh Hunter have been teammates since middle school.

And they will remain teammates for the next two years in college.

Hunter and Ware both signing scholarships with Okaloosa-Walton Community College in Niceville, Florida.

Hunter and Ware are both all region players their senior season at Dougherty where they led the Trojans to the AAA state semifinals.

Hunter averaged 15 points and nine rebounds a game in his final high school season and Ware averaged 12 points and five rebounds a contest.

Okaloosa-Walton is one of the top junior college programs in the southeast and nation and both players are glad they have chosen the same school.

Kenny Ware said "Basically we are just go down there and keep each other's head on straight Have somebody to talk to and back up on. And he is just going to be just like my brother down there."

Josh Hunter said "That is a blessing for me to go to college and going with a buddy of mine that I have played with since 8th grade that is even more of a blessing."

Kenny Ware and Josh Hunter will also be teammates with former Westover high guard Allen Jenkins.

Okaloosa-Walton head coach Bruce Stewart says Jenkins may be his team captain next season.
