Albany- A Radium Middle School teacher arrested and accused of choking a student will not be back in a Dougherty County classroom next year.

The school board voted 5 to 2 not to renew Mike Lewis' contract at Radium Springs Middle School. The school board didn't have to renew his contract because he's not a tenured teacher.

He is currently suspended without pay and awaiting trial for simple battery.
