Albany-- A sweet staple of Albany's economy for 85 years is sold.   A Minnesota-based candy conglomerate is buying Bobs Candies. Bobs Candies is an historic cornerstone of Albany's economy.

The family owned business has churned out world-famous candy canes for the better part of a century.

Now, Farley's and Sathers is buying the Albany plant and the Bobs trademark. That company says for now,  each of Bob's more than 250 employees should keep their jobs. Word of the sale came late this afternoon.

Nearly three years ago, Bobs shut down briefly when they had difficulty securing annual financing that helped them make their Christmas candy. A spokeswoman for Farley's and Sathers said Bobs products will complement its seasonal line of products.

Farley's and Sathers currently does not hold any manufacturing outside America, but the Bobs plant in Mexico is included in the sale.
