Albany- Friday, a Federal judge dismissed a suit against the Phoebe Putney Health System but the court battle isn't over. The plaintiffs say the hospital overcharges uninsured patients and uses overly aggressive tactics to collect payments.
"We're very pleased with the ruling from Judge Chief Sands today in dismissing this case. We've maintained from the beginning that these cases were without merit. Phoebe has always treated everyone who has come here since 1911 without regard to income," says Assistant Vice-President of Marketing Communications Jackie Ryan.
Judge Louis Sands ruled the case should be heard in state court but Phoebe leaders say they're confident the charges will be dismissed there as well.
