Sylvester- Wednesday Chief Tommy Marchman opened the doors on the new Sylvester Fire Department to the public for the first time.

The new building Westberry Street has sleeping quarters for all twelve full-time firefighters and is equipped with drive-through truck bays.

"The employees, the firefighters of the department are extremely grateful that we have a building that's not leaking and that is suitable to represent the city of Sylvester in a very special kind of way," Marchman says.

The new fire department took a year and a half to complete and cost more than one million dollars. The project was funded by Sylvester's one-cent sales tax.
