Leesburg -- A South Georgia Middle School band is headed to the nation's capitol to perform.

44 members of the Lee County 8th grade band will leave early Thursday morning for Washington D.C. The band will spend five days performing and touring.

Senator Saxby Chambliss' office set up special tours of the White House and the Capitol, so the students will be learning as well as having fun. Band Director Carol Kluball said "I'm also taking one of our social studies teachers. So it's not only be just fun and games. They are going to have some lessons to do with the standards of education while we are up there"

The Lee County 8th Grade band will perform at the Kings Dominion Theme Park during the five day trip to Washington D.C.
