Agents say that police responded to the apartment because of a burglar alarm. Officers found the back door broken open and went inside. That's where they detected a strong odor of marijuana, and saw pot in plain view.More >>
Lowndes County - A man believed to be a hitchhiker is found dead on the side of the Interstate.
Someone driving northbound on I-75 spotted the body around 1:15 Wednesday afternoon near Exit 18. Investigators think the man was hit and killed by a vehicle sometime Tuesday night.
"It appears that he was walking down the Interstate or may have tried to hitch a ride when he was struck by an unknown vehicle," said Trooper First Class Joshua Brogdon.
Investigators say the man was carrying an i-d, but they haven't yet released his name.
