Lowndes County - The county was spared from much of the severe weather damage other parts of South Georgia endured, but all the rain has caused some road closures.

Six roads have been closed at various times during the last week. All of those open again except for a parts of Old Lake Park Road. Public works crews will have to wait for much of the water to dry up before they can get started on repairs.

"We have estimated about $100,000 in damage to various roads and drainage areas," said Joe Pritchard, County Manager.

The Withlacoochee River in Lowndes County crested at 17 feet Monday and is not posing a threat of flooding.
