Valdosta - Do you want to support the troops?

Then next year be sure to take advantage of the military tax check off.

The General Assembly agreed to aid National Guard troops and their families by creating a tax check off on Georgia income tax forms.

The money raised will go to a military relief fund where it will help families of deployed personnel in need of financial assistance.

"You just don't know what a relief not only for us at the FAC's center but for the soldiers knowing that they have support for their families," said Tinie Stringfield Family Assistance Coordinator of the National Guard in Valdosta.

The legislation was sponsored by Senator Tim Golden of Valdosta and is awaiting Governor Perdue's signature.
