Berrien County -- One South Georgia homeowner had a shocking experience Friday morning. About 9:15, lightning stuck a tree in Berrien County.
The strike was so intense it blew off the bark, destroyed the pump in his well, and damaged several electrical devices in a nearby trailer.
Property owner Michael Griffin, who was working on a building when the lightning struck, felt the aftermath. "All of a sudden we just heard a giant explosion, and then there were fireballs just running across the roof, just all over the place, just a major big huge flash," he exclaimed.
Griffin estimates his losses to be about five thousand dollars.
