Albany -- A former Dougherty District Attorney employee went on trial for theft. Alice Robinson is charged with felony theft by deception and making false statements in court.
In January 2002 Robinson's son suffered tooth damage in a fight. Prosecutors say Robinson stole 500 dollars from Jeremiah Brown, the father of the other boy in the fight. They say she said she did not have medical insurance and inflating the cost of the dental repair.
She is also charged with lying about the payment in juvenile court February 20th, 2002.
District Attorney Ken Hodges fired Robinson from her job as a clerk when the charges were made
. A special Judge and prosecutor were brought in for the trial. It is expected to last until Wednesday.
