Albany- The severe weather prompted the Dougherty County school system to keep students a little longer. All elementary, middle and high school buses were delayed because of tornado warnings.

Drivers were told not to move from the school buildings until authorized. The buses loaded up with students and left schools about 3:30. "Because the weather was so bad and they were thinking that the tornado would start before we got home with the kids and they were doing it for their safety," says bus driver Mary Alice Jones.

School kids were also prepared for the tornado because of routine tornado drill practices.
