Ward II now has representation

Albany-- The city's newest city commissioner was sworn in Friday and attended her first meeting. Dorothy Hubbard took the oath of office from Judge Nancy Stephenson.

Hubbard will fill the seat vacated by Henry Mathis who was suspended by the Governor after his federal extortion indictment. Mathis stood only feet away while Hubbard took the oath to serve Ward Two.

"As a result, all the citizens of Albany will benefit. So I have rolled up my sleeves, and I am ready to work," Hubbard said.

Hubbard will fill Mathis' seat until the outcome of his trial which is scheduled for next month.
