Abbeville- Patrick Burwell's Ashburn house was burned and spray-painted with racial slurs in June 2003.

He said it was a hate crime, but authorities said he hired someone to vandalize and torch the house. Two months later Burwell escaped from jail.

Wednesday night a jury found him not guilty of arson and theft by deception, but returned a guilty verdict on the escape charge. He was sentenced to five years in prison.
