House votes to put Sudafed behind the counter

Albany- Friday, the House of Representatives voted to put medications like Sudafed behind the counter at your local drug store.

The popular cold medicine is commonly used to make methamphetamine. Soon you may have to ask your pharmacist for it.

"Controlling it is good and important but its gonna inconvenience some people to put it only in a pharmacy people that live in rural areas that don't have access to a pharmacy that have to go all the way forty or fifty miles to get pseudoephedrine," says Davis Drugs pharmacist Thomas McSwain.

The bill also has a provision that may limit the amount of cold medicine customers could buy. The bill now heads to the Senate.
