Valdosta - Spring is in the air in Valdosta as the city gears up for its fifth annual Azalea Festival.

The event kicks off Friday night on V.S.U.'s front lawn with an International Parade. Saturday's activities start at 8:30 with a 5-K road race in Drexel Park followed by all day entertainment and more than 100 food, arts and crafts vendors.

The Blue Notes Air Force Reserve Band will also perform Saturday night on V.S.U's front lawn.

"We're celebrating the beauty of springtime in Valdosta and Lowndes County, that's our purpose, and to invite people from outside the area to join us in this celebration so it will be a welcome to spring," said Joanne Griner, Organizer.

There will also be a circus Saturday in Drexel Park. Shows are at 12:00, 2:00 and 4:00.
