Bainbridge- Memorial Hospital and Manor in Bainbridge is launching its "Telemed" program today.
The system links patients there to doctors at larger hospitals in Atlanta via the internet and cameras. That allows them to be diagnosed and assessed without having to make a lengthy trip. Clinical Coordinator Beth Hollis says "Telemed" has revolutionized medicine. "It really provides an opportunity for those patients to have access to care that they might otherwise not be able to," she says.
It took about $126,000,000 over 20 years to approve the rural health initiative.
