Lena Baker remembered

Albany- The only woman ever to be executed by electrocution in Georgia is remembered this weekend.

Lena Baker was convicted of shooting Ernest B. Knight, a mill owner she was hired to care for. While Baker claimed it was self defense, the jury of 12 white men found her guilty.

Saturday, about 30 death penalty opponents gathered at Baker's grave outside Cuthbert to remember her death.

Baker's family has formally requested a pardon for Baker, but posthumous pardons are rare in Georgia, and the request is still being considered.
