Colquitt-- Growing up in Colquitt, Charles Grant didn't have a professional athlete from his hometown to look up to. The New Orleans Saints defensive end says that's one of the many reasons he returns each year to give back to the kids in his community.
Today Grant was doing just that in his hometown of Colquitt as he held his second annual 'Kids Day Out'. The event, which is held in honor of Grant's late brother Renaldo Beard, was open to kids of all ages.
Moon-Bounces, a volleyball net and various other games were set up outside Grant's mother's house for the kids to play with. Other NFL players, George Foster, Shaun Smith and Kenderick Allen came into town to help Grant with the event.
The former Miller County star says it gives him great pleasure to bring fellow NFL stars to the small town of Colquitt and hopes by doing so it will inspire the kids to work hard and succeed in whatever they chose to do.
"It's just a great feeling to come to a little small town like this and give back something to the community for kids that thought they'd never see guys besides myself in this town. Over the years God has blessed me to bring a lot of different guys through here," Grant said.
Grant will begin his fourth year with the New Orleans Saints in the fall.
