Top honors for spelling bee participant

Cairo- Shiver Elementary School's Rebekah Goodlett placed third in a regional spelling bee this week.

She was a runner-up in Shiver's own spelling bee, which allowed her to participate in Grady County's. Goodlett placed first there, then moved on to the regional. "It just makes me really proud I did that for Georgia. It makes me feel really happy knowing I did a good job representing Georgia, making it look good, and making it famous," says Goodlett.

Goodlett's teachers say her reading and spelling level is far above an average 12 year old's. Oh yes, and "agronomy" is the study of agriculture.
